This book became part of a controversial due to the dark poems claiming that the poem "How Not To Have To Dry The Dishes" encourages messiness and disobedience. The other poem that caused controversy is "Little Abigail and the Beautiful Pony" which describes the death of a girl after her parents refuse to buy her a pony.
